- Error fixed with Golded editor, therefore corrected language files.
+ New Golded version 1.1.5-b20070116 from 16-JAN-2007.

+ CDP-Nodelist updated.
+ Changed server for updating CDP-nodelist during installation.
+ New unzip version 5.52 from 28-FEB-2005.
+ New zip version 2.32 from 19-JUN-2006.
+ New Golded version 1.1.5-61116 from 16-NOV-2006.
v2.7 (05-MAR-2006)
+ CDP-Nodelist updated.
+ Adjustment related to the changed file area name, now the file area
NODEDIFZ is requested for the nodediff in zip format; the file area
NODEDIFF is furthermore requested due to safety reasons.
+ American area list (backbone.na) updated.
v2.6 (12-FEB-2006)
+ New language added: Spanish. Many thanks to the translator
Albano de Manuel!
- Uninstall improved (Win XP and languages).
+ In installation the selection bar is set to LAN connection if an
internet connection over LAN is recognized.
+ There is a new CDP node in the selection.
- DNS entries of Monika added and partly corrected (dropped dyn. DNS
service of fidosoft.de).
- At installation address for updating the CDP-Nodelist changed
(as well because of dropped fidosoft.de service).
+ During the "Problem-Check" in the menu "Infos about Fido, Help, ..."
a corresponding message is given now when an error occured during
reading of the binkd.cfg, or if the DNS entry for the node is
missing or faulty.
+ If there is no or a faulty DNS entry in the "node"-line in the
binkd.cfg, a warning is now given when entering the configuration
from the main menu. Correction is possible now.
v2.5 (28-APR-2005)
- Bug with Node-Info fixed.
- The PDF manual will no longer be opened in the Fido-Package window
with the Acrobat Reader library, but in an extra window directly
with the Acrobat Reader, because this causes less problems on some
systems.
- Third dynamic DNS entry of Christian von Busse's system was cut.
Fixed.
+ You cannot only change the point number, but now also the whole
address (within the same zone number) - for being able to change
easily to another node in case the old node quits.
- The point list was received, but not uncompressed and used. Fixed.
- In Dutch language the areas description changed from "belgian" to
"Duitse".
+ At request of the new point list there does not come a *.TIC file
with it anymore.
+ American area list (backbone.na) updated.
- Some areas were not displayed. Fixed.
+ Now you can move the Fido directory (also to another drive), the
paths will be changed automatically at program start. (Only if you
change from Win9x to Win NT/2k/XP or other way round you still should
run the update once to make it use the correct Golded version.)
Thanks to Gregor Skrzeczynski.
+ Now you can update the list with the selection of the nodes during
installation. Either by downloading the current list from internet,
or by opening a list from hard disk.
+ If you already were a point at a CDP-Node and you don't have a
CDN-File, you can select this now during installation and enter the
data manually, so no new point number will be given away.
+ New unzip version 5.51 from 22-MAY-2004.
+ New BinkD version 0.9.7/Win32 from 15-JUN-2004.
! Irc-Client (chat) removed, has been very rarely used.
+ Fastlst nodelist compiler now without shareware notice and delay.
+ New Golded version 1.1.5-31012 from 12-OCT-2003 (Win32 version only).
- DNS entries of Monika added and partly corrected.
+ New UnRar Version 3.42, from 30-DEC-2004.
- If the windows directory had been changed, the compressors were not
written correctly. Fixed.
+ CDP-Nodelist updated.
+ Now you can also use other IP-nodes for installation that are not
CDP capable and being not in the selection list.
+ In the menu "Infos about Fido, Help, ..." there is a new button
"Problem-Check". This function reads the DNS name of the node from
the binkd.cfg, determines its IP address and checks then with an
independant DNS lookup in the internet whether the IP that has been
determined by your system is correct. Some users have a faulty
DNS cache and therefore often an out of date IP address, so that
no connection is possible when you try to poll for new mails. If this
problem occurs, you can now easily check if it is a DNS problem, or
if the system on the other side really is not available. You need an
active internet connection in order to use this function.
+ Written mails now will not be exported (packed) anymore after leaving
the editor (Golded), but first when getting new mails (poll for new
mails). The advantage is that you can change self-written mails again
even after leaving Golded until they are really sent out.
v2.4 (26-SEP-2003)
- Unsubscribing an area didn't delete the area in Golded (editor).
Fixed.
+ Manual updated, manual version 1.6 from 26-SEP-2003.
v2.3 (18-JUL-2003)
+ New BinkD version. Now it is BinkD 0.9.5a snapshot from 01-MAR-03.
With this version now also those proxy configurations should work
which were not able to make a connection up to now.
+ New Golded version 1.1.5-30512 from 12-MAY-2003.
+ It is now possible to also change to network (LAN) = do not dial
in configuration menu.
- Info in configuration menu at the option for changing the number
of lines in Golded (editor) that with Win 95/98/ME only
25, 43 or 50 lines are possible.
v2.2 (23-FEB-2003)
- The echolist (with the available areas) wasn't updated anymore.
Fixed.
- The broken Husky config (see v2.1) was only repaired with a new
installation of the Fido-Package, the bug fix was missing in the
update routine.
The Husky team has fixed the bug in HPT (tosser) that damaged the
config file. The previous work-around bugfix therefore is no longer
necessary.
+ New HPT (tosser) version 1.3.0-current/w32 from 07-FEB-2003 and
additional utilities.
- When for installation English language was selected (or chosen by
default for most countries in the world), the English help file
for Golded (editor) wasn't installed. Now, the English language
files will be integrated.
- Bei der Installation mit englischer Sprache wurde für Golded
(Editor) keine Hilfe installiert, jetzt werden die englischen
Sprachdateien eingebunden.
! Three CDP nodes less (among others Henning Schroeer - those who are
point at his system please subscribe at a new node). And two new
CDP nodes.
+ The point list is not available at most CDP-IP-Nodes, therefore it
now will be requested additionally from somewhere else.
+ Golded's (editor) window size will now be set during installation
from the default value of 25 lines to 30 lines if the resolution is
at least 1024x768 and set to 50 lines from 1280x1024 on.
+ From the echo list echo0002.lst now only German echos will be read,
because some also have international echos in there, which are
expected in the file backbone.na. From the last one German echos
will be filtered out.
+ Some adjustments for the system of Christian von Busse.
! My Fido address changed to: Michael Haase, 2:2432/280
+ Twit filter of Golded (editor) activated, mails with the following
subjects will be deleted: "FileScan report", "Max'Freq v",
"Filerequest response", "Dein Filerequest". And the following
sender: "VIREQ/2".
- The maintenance events (compile nodelist etc.) had been executed
permanently from a specific time on. Fixed.
- During each update it will be checked if echo areas are twice in
the Husky Config (this is an error), and each double entry will
be removed automatically.
+ If the internet browser is called from within Golded (editor, CTRL+I
while reading a mail that contains an internet address), then Golded
can continued to be used without the need anymore to close the
internet browser first.
v2.1 (17-NOV-2002)
- Husky config with the areas could get broken, so that not all
areas were displayed in Golded group configuration to assign
the mail areas to a particular group in the editor Golded.
! During the new installation (the update was okay) of v2.0 the Husky
Config file for the tosser (which handles the incoming and outgoing
mails) was created faulty. Those who installed the v2.0 for the
first time (that means new installation instead of update) have
to do a new installation with this v2.1 again.
v2.0 (27-OCT-2002)
- If a faulty arealist was received from the node, then the last area
wasn't displayed. Or if two or more spaces were after the area name,
but no description, then the area selection hung up. Both are
problems with the received area list, but now they will be
recognized, so it's no problem anymore.
+ For subscribing an area now a different syntax will be used for
rescanning of mails, which will work with the majority of the used
software by the CDP-Nodes.
+ There is a new CDP node in the selection.
+ Order of the DNS entries for Henning Schroeer changed.
+ DNS entry of Kristof Nidzwetzki changed / added.
+ BinkD now deletes old busy files on its own if they are older than
45 minutes.
+ Checking of pkt files via pktdate.exe deactivated.
+ In the Chat now also comes a beep sound (you can disable this) if
you are Away and someone writes something.
+ Makepoll.exe replaced.
+ Loglevel lowered in the Husky Config, because the log file sometimes
gew too fast with unneccessary information.
+ New BinkD version. Now it is BinkD 0.9.5a snapshot from 12-MAY-02.
+ New Golded version 1.1.5-21026 from 26-OCT-2002.
+ Golded's (editor) window size will be automatically adjusted to the
line count set in the configuration menu.
+ New HPT (tosser) version 1.3.0/w32 from 25-OCT-2002 and additional
utilities.
+ Manual updated, manual version 1.5 from 13-JUL-2002.
- The Irc-Client (chat) sometimes displayed the nick names wrong.
Fixed.
! The Irc-Client (chat) no longer displays a message that a user is
Away, but changes the nick appropriately, so that also others can
see that who come later into the chat.
- Password wasn't transmitted automatically to the server if the own
nick (chat) was password protected and a password was handed over by
you. Fixed.
+ The log-in process of the Irc-Chat into a channel changed at the
server side. Adjusted.
+ During the update process now it will be recognized if the windows
directory has been changed (even if the operating system is still
the same).
+ In the menu "(Un)Subscribe Areas" there now is the possibility to
subscribe all subscribed areas again. This can be useful if you
changed the node or if the areas are no longer subscribed for
whatever reason.
v1.9 (10-JUN-2002)
- In pflege.bat deleting of the HPT lock file corrected (unimportant).
- Internet detection became broken on some systems since v1.7. Fixed.
+ During installation now always a network (LAN) connection is
additionally available for selection - no check of an internet
connection will be made. During update if the current setting is
'other Provider', then you get asked if it should changed to
network (LAN) connection.
+ An installation without a new registration is now not only possible
if a CDN file is given as a parameter, but this is now also
automatically offered if you try to install to a directory where
already a CDN file exists.
- If a Dial-Up Network connection had a user name longer than 20
characters, the connection failed. Fixed.
- In the batch files 'if exist' together with wildcards changed,
because some windows versions don't support this. Polling could
be prevented by left behind bsy files.
v1.8 (06-JUN-2002)
+ Manual updated, manual version 1.4 from 24-MAY-2002.
+ New HPT (tosser) version 1.1.0/w32 from 05-JUN-2002 and additional
utilities - on few systems (two Win98 SE users reported me this
problem) a memory error occured and thus no mails were exported/sent.
- On Win9x systems it were said since v1.6 that no Dial-Up Network
is installed even if it was. Fixed.
+ During installation now also a password can be entered for a proxy
server.
+ There is a new CDP node in the selection.
+ New BinkD version. Now it is BinkD 0.9.5a snapshot from 28-JUL-01.
v1.7 (23-MAY-2002)
- If because of an crash the lock file of HPT (tosser) had not been
deleted, then you only were able to get HPT to run again after
deleting the file lock.hpt manually. Fixed.
'AdvisoryLock on' included in the Husky Config.
+ There are three new CDP nodes in the selection.
! There is no more seperate update version anymore, at start you now
can choose between new installation and update. Update is possible
from v1.0 on (nevertheless, a backup of the Fido directory is
recommended, safe is safe).
+ Manual updated, manual version 1.3 from 03-MAY-2002.
+ New UnRar Version 3.00, from 14-MAY-2002.
! Support for RTF (Rich Text Format) for viewing the manual has been
stopped, because meanwhile the PDF format is spreaded everywhere.
- More reliabal internet dectection (modem users sometimes were
mistakenly told that an internet detection is active).
+ IRC server for chat changed to irc.icq.com, channel #fido-deluxe as
the default.
- Keyboard table for Golded fixed (deleting of mails with Del).
+ During the update process now it will be recognized if the windows
version has been changed (from Win 9x to Win NT or vice versa) and
the appropriate Golded version will be configured.
+ In Windows XP the new Windows XP style for the buttons etc. is used.
- The path to the internet browser corrected to short path names for
Golded.
- Uninstall routine improved.
v1.6 (12-APR-2002)
! Update-Version released. In the version from 02-APR the update
doesn't work correctly.
v1.6 (02-APR-2002)
+ New Golded version 1.1.5-1115 from 16-NOV-2001.
+ Golded (Editor) now highlights eMail and internet addresses. If
internet addresses (URLs) are in a mail you're just reading, you
can press CTRL+I, then the URLs the actual mail contains will be
displayed in a small window; you can choose one with the cursor
keys and run it by pressing return - the browser (e.g. Internet
Explorer) will be started with this address.
! The used window size is set to 25 lines by default, because there
might be problems with Windows 2000/XP systems that have a higher
buffer value for lines per default, so that there display problems.
Those who have a bigger window can increase this setting in the
configuration menu.
- Small enhancements for Windows XP.
+ There is a new CDP-Node you can choose during installation.
+ New HPT (tosser) version 1.1.0/w32 from 23-MAR-2002 and additional
utilities.
- Update for the systray-function (minimize main menu to systray).
+ IRC Client extended to a systray-function (minimize to systray is
now possible).
+ IRC Client recognizes now if the connection to the server still
exists - if it gets lost, it will be reconnected (the checking is
done every minute).
! The FLS (File List Server) had been removed, because of too less
acceptance and interest in files in Fido. If one wants to use it
nevertheless, he/she can do it only manually now (write an appropriate
request mail).
+ New IPRoute version 1.25 from 03-MAR-2002.
- makepoll.exe replaced (for starting a new poll), on one reported
Win NT system there was a problem from time to time; it was a
16 bit Dos-Program, now it is a Win32-Program.
+ Pointlist will be included (magic PNT0002 is used for the request at
the CDP-Node, diffs are expected as R24PNT_D.???, file area
R24PNT_D will be subsribed to for the diffs; support is limited to
Region 24, because of the lack of a standard regarding point lists).
+ New language added: Russian. Many thanks to the translator
Konstantin Balabin and Oleg Lobachev for further support!
+ Golded language files for Russian and Dutch added.
- The infos from the node had been reported as new from time to time,
although nothing had changed. It needed only 1 bit to tilt in memory
during the CRC checksum check.. now it is double checked.
+ Manual updated, Manual version 1.2 from 02-APR-2002.
v1.51 (18-SEP-2001; is equal to the v1.6b beta version from 07-AUG-2001)
! To keep the update small an update is not possible anymore from
every version to v1.51, but only from v1.5 on!
For older versions please first update to v1.5 and then run the
update to v1.51.
+ If the point number will be changed, now also all mail and file
areas will be unsubscribes for the old point number and subscribed
for the new point number.
+ Speed up (Un-)Subscribing from/to areas (instead of handling each
area seperately and to open and close the files each time, now the
files will be opened and written only once and all areas are
handled together in one step).
- During installation and during the weekly compiling of the nodelist
(so with each call of Fastlist) on some systems a task with
WinOldApp keeps hanging, which also prevents shutting down windows
sometimes. Fixed.
- In v1.5 'sqpack.exe' was replaced with a newer version, but now it
needs an additional parameter if you call it for deleting the old
mails during the monthly maintenance task. Fixed.
+ Origin in Golded (editor) updated during the update.
! For unsubscribing from Fido the file that will be send to the node
will not be named DELPOINT.XXX anymore, but PPPPZZZZ.DEL. For
firther information about this file please look in the actual CDP
specification (Rev. 3 or later).
+ In installation the last name now also will be started with a
capital letter if it is entered in small letters (this was done
for the firs name before). Treated as last name is the last word
of the entered name (so that middle names like "von" remain small).
+ After installation in the greeting netmail now you get asked how
you got to know the Fido-Package.
+ Reduced the log level in Huky Config, because the log file grew too
fast with unrelevant information.
- For the FLS (File List Server) request the request was not sent if
your own node was a different node than Henning Schroeer (the wrong
AKA was used). Fixed.
v1.5 (13-JUL-2001)
+ Now, it's possible to sort areas into groups.
+ The File List Server (FLS) can now also be used if you're not
point at Henning Schroeer (the carrier of the FLS).
+ The search results of the File List Server now can be viewed
comfortable from the Fido Package (new button in FLS menu).
+ New BinkD version. Now it is BinkD 0.9.5. Snapshot from 23-MAY-01,
because there were problems with two users with resolving the name
(DNS). Unfortunately without crc (checksum) checking.
+ Infos' from your node (nodehtm) will be updated (requestet) now
weekly instead of monthly.
+ If the nodehtm.zip changed to the previous version, you will get
a noticing message about that.
+ Configuration menu put into main menu and moved logfile menu into
configuration menu.
+ Window coordinates from the main menu will be saved, now.
+ Added a small IRC client for being able to chat with other fido
users (menu "Others").
+ There are less Dos windows popping up. Some are unnecessary, these
are just invisible. Other window's output is redirected to an own
window.
+ New HPT (tosser) version (and other updated Husky Tools).
+ Manual for the Fido-Package deluxe added. The Acrobat Reader has
to be installed to read it. Alternatively there is a version for
download with the manual additionally in RTF format, this one can
be viewed without additional programs.
- AutoPoll stayed on 5 minutes regardless what you configured.
+ Welcome netmail after installation.
- Further small bugs fixed.
History for older versions only available in German, sorry.
